Moorea – Secret lagoons and mystical mountains (approx. 40 nautical miles)
A cruise starting and ending in Tahiti, this itinerary explores some of Moorea’s best sites.
Day 1:
Arrive on your boat, relax and depart for Moorea for a 3-hour sail from Tahiti. You’ll sail to Cook Bay on the island of Moorea, one of the island’s two famous bays. The crossing takes just 3 to 4 hours, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy lunch at the Moorea Beach Café and spend the afternoon enjoying the lagoon.
Day 2:
Depart Cook’s Bay for Oponohu Bay, the second deep bay on Moorea’s north coast, which is even more magical. You’ll be surrounded by cliffs covered in tropical vegetation. In the afternoon, you can swim with eagle and leopard rays, enjoy Ta’ahiamanu beach or take a unique experience aboard a traditional Polynesian pirogue.
Day 3 :
Sail to Haapiti, where you’ll drop anchor on a long stretch of white sand. The lagoon on this side of Moorea is vast and offers many opportunities for snorkeling. La vague à la passe is one of the best surf spots in French Polynesia. If you’re a beginner, just take to the pass in your dinghy and watch the locals ride the waves.
Day 4:
Enjoy your morning surfing or snorkeling around the Haapiti pass. Take time to visit the local church and village, then climb back aboard your catamaran and sail towards Tahiti, rounding the south side of Moorea. Arrive at Taina Marina in the late afternoon and enjoy a nightcap as the sun sets.
