Tahiti Queen Island

A stay in Tahiti begins with an immersion in Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia.

Your guests will discover its colorful market, where "mamas" with welcoming smiles stand behind stalls adorned with jewelry made from shells and black pearls, colorful fabrics, bewitchingly fragrant flowers, exotic fruits and Tikis carved from noble wood.

Today we’re going to present you with an 8-day itinerary on the island of Tahiti, and explain why this is more than just a “stopover” island!

TAHITI, the beating heart of French Polynesia, is appreciated for its mix of cultures, landscapes and colors.

Surrounded by a coral reef, the largest island in the Society Archipelago captivates visitors with its warm atmosphere, refined craftsmanship and archaeological treasures containing the secrets of ancient gods and the ancestral traditions of our “Maohi” people.

A trip to Tahiti also means discovering an island with a wealth of natural treasures:

  • The two extinct volcanoes, linked by an isthmus, offer visitors to the “Queen Island” landscapes of astonishing diversity.
  • The interior is marked by flower-filled valleys and sharp mountains covered in exuberant vegetation.
  • The island also abounds in mysterious caves, lavatubes and fantastic waterfalls.
  • The green of the land contrasts with the turquoise of the lagoon, bordered by black sand beaches (on the east coast) and white sand beaches (on the west coast).
  • Tahiti’s translucent waters are a magnet for scuba divers and surfing enthusiasts, who can take advantage of a Tahiti trip to discover the Teahupoo spot (Olympics 2024), world-famous for its spectacular wave.

In addition to its natural treasures, the island also boasts a wealth of cultural attractions that bear witness to French Polynesia’s fascinating history, traditions and heritage!

During this long stay, your guests will discover numerous “Marae”: archaeological sites and monuments to the glory of the gods and the island’s first inhabitants.

The Museum of Tahiti and the Islands (Te Fare Mahana), in Punaauia, is like an open window on the past, offering a glimpse of Polynesia’s rich heritage through its exceptional ethnographic collections.
